National Grounds and Gardens Manager

Role Purpose:

To lead the Park based teams to execute the strategy for Grounds & Gardens in the Region in order to deliver:

Gardens & Grounds Brand Standards

Using data from a Gardens & Grounds Dashboard’ to support park teams with specific actions through- training, coaching and support. Quickly building and maintaining effective relationships and credibility with all stakeholders.

Proactively review data and drive actions to reduce cost, reduce energy consumption and to positively impact Guest satisfaction across the parks. Producing business cases and then managing projects and processes to maximise the opportunity.

Key responsibilities:

Gardens, Grounds & Siting
Responsible for ensuring that the park teams execute the functional plans through communication and leadership Monitors and audits operational brand standards. Highlights areas with opportunities for development
Supports the Head of Facilities to create the functional SOP’s
Works with the Head of Operational Comms to create and deliver timely and effective communications for Park leaders to support in the successful delivery of the Garden and Grounds
Actively seeks out best practice across parks and ensures that their team share and/implement at pace
Acts as a subject matter expert within the Garden and Grounds team in regard to the operational SBLC SOPS
Supports their team to identify talent and feed into functional/POD succession plans to ensure team potential is nurtured and supported with appropriate stretch opportunities
Engages with GMs and ODs to support and challenge performance
Works with the wider central operations team to develop the functional operating model
Works with proposition to understand the impact of any future plans/specification change on team and operational dynamics to deliver against expected standards
Advise and supports the horticultural development of each Park to make it attractive to customers, wildlife and the local community
All Parks to be supplied with the rights levels of plant equipment, properly maintained to optimise labour levels
Review and compare all Parks training, equipment and identify exceptions and opportunities to become for effective and efficient
Been the owner for the Haven ‘Safe Siting’ Policy and ensure that all moves and siting operations are completed fully in line with policy and H&S requirements. Implement change as required
Ensuring the safe execution of jobs by modelling techniques of labour/time.  Consistently striving to improve standards and deliver excellence through more effective and efficient ways of working
Provide governance to ensure all Parks are competent and confident in the use and upkeep in all tools, machinery and plant equipment
Ensure robust PPM regimes are implemented to protect assets

Maintenance
Works with parks to deliver PPM to the Gardens, Grounds, Golf courses, Lakes and open water areas.
Ensure the paths and roads are even and free from trip hazards through proactive condition surveys and quick expedited repairs.
Works with Parks to highlight key infrastructure including Ditches, Dykes and pump sets are maintained and have suitable PPM in place.
Audit Parks to ensure they are competent and confident in the use and upkeep in all tools, machinery and plant equipment. Including golf course equipment.
Monitors and polices the safe execution of jobs by modelling techniques of labour/time.
All Parks in the Region to be supplied with the rights levels of plant equipment, properly maintained to optimise labour levels.

Energy Focus
Work to the strategy for eliminating inefficiencies to improve sustainability, reduce water usage, electricity usage and minimise operational wastage,
Identify potential leaks on site and deliver best in class water leak solutions wherever possible,
Responsible for energy awareness within the Gardens, Siting and Grounds teams

Waste & Pest Control
Carry out park Energy, Pest, Refuse and Recycling audits to understand and make recommendations for reduction measures.
Work with suppliers to drive value, innovation and enhanced service.
Monitors and polices the delivery of refuse and recycling brand standards
Analysing data, interpreting results to drive actions and change.
Improve standards and deliver through more effective and efficient ways of working.

Skills required:

Highly competent (and confident) in trade skills and horticulture 
Evidence of previous roles 
Evidence of previous management of teams and processes 
Ability and demonstrate the ability to lead from the front 
Horticulture Apprenticeship Level 2/3 
Ability and competency in use of vehicles and plant equipment 
Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to H&S and regulations 
Ability to work in all weathers
